Abs Are Made in the Kitchen: Secrets of Six Pack Abs

Six Pack Abs

You have probably heard that six pack abs are made in the kitchen before, but it is much more than just bro science. Those much wanted washboard abs take more than doing crunches and leg raises. It takes a deep level of determination to your nutrition plan as well as your workout plan.

In terms of nutrition, the first tip that I have to give you is to ditch the alcohol, or at the very least, cut it down to perhaps one drink per week. Alcohol consumption is extremely counter productive to trimming the fat.

In addition to the alcohol, shy away from sugary drinks like soda and juices. While everyone understands that sugary sodas are bad for you, a lot do not understand that fruit juices can also be loaded with additional sugars making them just as bad as some sodas. If I want to indulge in some soda, I like to do a club soda with lime. Every once in a while, I will drink a diet cola, but I am not such a big fan of soda myself.

Outside of beverages, we need to talk about what we eat. Lose processed foods and opt for whole, fresh foods. Leave the preservatives and additives behind. Sodium is one of the main offenders in the ingredient list of processed foods. When you are cooking your foods, take it easy on the salt and watch the ready-made spice mixtures for a high sodium level. Sauces are another possible hiding place for loads of sodium.

Of course, it is not all about the food. It takes a hard workout routine to get there as well. It is not all about the abs only though. Think of core training as training the entire core.

How to Train For Six Pack Abs

Are you looking for some great core training plans? Try yoga, which challenges your core in so many ways from various angles. Yoga seems to be an afterthought for so many as especially for bodybuilders, but the yoga die-hards will laugh at those thoughts. They know how great yoga us for you.

My go to form of cardio is HIIT Training for the most part. I play sports as well, so I do endurance training at times, but the ultimate form of quick fat burning cardio is HIIT Training. While cardio is not required depending on how strict your diet is, it is not exactly bad for you.

As far as actual core training goes, mix up your routine every once in a while. Notice that I said core training and not just ab training. Focus on quality and intensity during your workouts 3-4 times per week. Some people will say to train abs every day, but there is no need for that. Just like other muscles, your abdominals will benefit from rest, so take it every once in a while.

Of course, when we talk about rest, we have to mention sleep. This is one of the weakest parts of everyone’s training regimen. Focus on getting ample sleep every night. Sleep does a body good and it is the best way for your muscles and central nervous system to recuperate.
