Everyone is looking for six pack abs, but if it was that easy, everyone would have that washboard stomach. They say that abs are made in the kitchen and that is completely accurate. But, as with any body part, you will still want to work that muscle group in order for that muscle regions to grow. Besides looks at an abs workout that works, let take a look at the best equipment for six pack abs.
Done with proper form, many compound movements work the abs in addition to the target muscle. For non-equipment exercises, some of my favorites are the plank and the ab crunch. But, if you are looking for equipment to tighten up those abs, read on.
Abs rollers are great pieces of equipment to carve out that washboard stomach. Be careful with how you use an ab roller. Below is a good video that can help with that. As with most exercises, performing it wrong can result in an injury. With ab rollers specifically, you can develop back pain with prolonged poor usage.
There are a few ab rollers that I like. Let’s first take a look at the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Roller. This heavy duty ab roller is extremely durable and takes a beating. Its big size makes it difficult to take on a plane with you. I really like this roller because of its durability. There is also the Perfect Fitness Ab Carver Sport Roller, which is a very similar model which works nicely.
The Odoland 3-In-1 AB Wheel Roller Kit includes a nice ab roller with three wheels. This is also a heavy duty ab roller able to withstand a hard workout. The three wheels glide nicely on most every surface.
If you are looking for that killer ab workout on a budget, check out the Elite Ab Wheel Roller.
The Roman Chair
Roman chairs have been around for years, and that is because they simply work. To date, they are still some of the best equipment for six pack abs. If you are looking for a nice roman chair, check out the Titan Abs Back Hyper Extension Exercise Bench Roman Chair X. Titan Fitness makes good equipment and this Roman chair is no exception. For a lower cost option, check out the Marcy Adjustable Hyperextension Roman Chair. There are a myriad of Roman chair options out there though. I have picked a couple that I have used and enjoyed.
Ab coasters range in price anywhere from $100 to $1,000+ so be careful with purchased a potentially heavy piece of ab equipment. I like the XtremepowerUS Abdominal Crunch Coaster. This ab coaster is smooth and does not make a ton of noise. If you want to go more on the higher end of the price scale, check out the Ab Coaster CS1500. This coaster will set you back about $1,000. It is most definitely a smooth ride though. The reality of equipment like ab coasters is that you really need to have the space and the desire to spend that much money on such an elaborate piece of equipment. For most, performing ab exercises without the use of such expensive aids is not mandatory.
Best Equipment for Six Pack Abs – Sit Up Benches
The Relife Build Your Bench Sit Up Bench is one of the best sit up benches that I have ever worked with. It is adjustable, foldable, and durable. The newer version has added two inches of extra width to make it even more sturdy. The Stamina Pro Ab/Hyper Bench is another nice piece of ab equipment that is also foldable and takes up just a little less room if space is a constraint.
Abdominal Twisters and Trainers
The Ab Rocket Abdominal Trainer is one of the best abdominal twisters that I have ever worked with. The could be the best equipment for six pack abs that I have come across in a long time. For a more lightweight piece of ab equipment, check out the GOPLUS Abdominal Twister Trainer.
Of course, most people think of power towers and exercise balls when they think of the best equipment for six pack abs. There are plenty of good ones out there as well. Perhaps, that will be another post.
