BPI is a company that I have a lot of love for both due to Jay Cutler and the effectiveness of most of their products. Pump-HD is one of their pre-workout supplements that I have recently fallen in love with for many reasons.
With a name like Pump-HD, you had better believe that it should provide one heck of a pump, and it does. I honestly cannot say that I get much of a pump from most pre-workout supplements (at least by using a single dose). That is not the case with Pump-HD. You get a nice pump while working out, which amplifies even more on upper body days.
One scoop of BPI Pump-HD provides effective doses of the following ingredients:
Creatine is one of the most extensively studied supplements out there and research has confirmed that it significantly increases muscle size and strength. Research has also shown that one of the best times to take a dose is before workouts as it provides muscle fibers energy to complete more reps.
Beta-alanine is an amino acid, which combines with histidine in muscle cells to form carnosine. Having higher levels of carnosine in muscle fibers allows them to contract with more strength for longer durations. Taking Beta-alanine with creatine may further improve the muscle gains afforded by creatine.
Beets have been found to be potent nitric oxide (NO) boosters due to the fact that they are a rich source of nitrates, which are readily converted in the body to NO. Several studies confirm that consuming beets increases endurance levels and allows strength athletes to train at a higher intensity.
This essential amino acid is the most critcal amino for muscle growth. leucine is a key activator of muscle protein synthesis, the process that leads to muscle growth. Research suggests that taking greater amounts of leucine around the time that you train promotes greater muscle growth.
Pump-HD is one of the few pre-workout products that provides this potent fat burner. Yohimbe is an extract of the west african tree Pausinystalia yohimbe. The active ingredient is yohimbine, which enables fat cells to release more fat (especially during exercise) and prevents them from storing more.
You will get no arguments from me on the taste of Pump-HD. It is simply fabulous. The fruit punch flavor is my favorite. There is no chalky taste as you would get with a lot of pre-workout supplements. It mixes fairly well with a spoon and effortlessly with a shaker bottle.
A single scoop does the trick, but two seems to work even better. Three scoops are a bit of overkill, but two scoops give that extra pump that most lifters are looking for.
Pump-HD’s Side Effects
If there are any, I would like to know what they are. I feel no side effects with Pump-HD. Side effects from other pre-workouts range from jitters to stomach pains, to nausea to diarrhea. There are no such issues with Pump-HD.
